Seasoned leader in technology and business brings over 40 years of experience in the Canadian semiconductor and technology ecosystem to FABrIC
December 10, 2025: CMC Microsystems, manager of FABrIC, a five-year, project to secure Canada’s future in semiconductors, is proud to announce that Jeff McNamee has been named Vice-President, FABrIC.
Jeff has over 40 years of experience across the Canadian tech ecosystem. Most recently, he served as CEO of SECTR – Semiconductor Ecosystem Centre for Training and Research – where he was responsible for developing and delivering training that specifically addresses the talent needs of the semiconductor industry. Throughout his career he has worked in business development, design, training, and product management for companies such as Bell Canada, Newbridge Networks, Galazar Networks and ADC Systems.
He takes over at a critical time for FABrIC. The first round of Challenge projects generated an enormous response, with funded projects announced in June 2025. Round two – focused on IoT Product Development – closed in October 2025 with submissions currently under review. “FABrIC targets technologies where Canada thrives, and where there is high growth potential,” said McNamee “I am excited to join the FABrIC team and work in partnership with firms and researchers to get their innovations to market as well as train the next generation of semiconductor talent to meet the needs of industry.”
He also thanked his predecessor Lynn McNeil for setting up FABrIC for success. “Lynn was instrumental in getting FABrIC off the ground, launching the first two rounds of Challenges, and assembling the right team to get FABrIC off to a great start. Through FABrIC, she generated tremendous energy in the Canadian semiconductor ecosystem, and I will work tirelessly to keep up the momentum.”
