Ahmed Abumazwed, PhD., is a photonics expert and staff scientist at CMC Microsystems, an organization that provides access to advanced technologies and tools for academic and industrial research in photonics and other fields. Dr. Abumazwed, has over 11 years of experience in optical and RF design, simulation, and testing, with a PhD in Optics and Photonics from McGill University and a MSc. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Concordia University.

Passionate about advancing the state-of-the-art in photonics and creating solutions for real-world challenges, his core competencies include optical sensing, fibre optics, free space optics, silicon photonics, and nanomaterials. He works widely with academia, industry, and government, supporting and enabling innovative projects.

Luke Govia, PhD, is a Trinidadian-Canadian physicist specializing in quantum information device theory. Luke Govia has worked widely in the quantum computing industry in the US, with previous academic stints in Canada and Germany. His expertise lies in circuit quantum electrodynamics and open quantum systems. His research focuses on understanding how quantum systems interact with their environment, the impact this has on quantum computing applications, and how open quantum systems can be used as a computational resource.
