This two-day workshop will provide an in-depth, hands-on program on how to use the Luceda IPKISS photonic layout tool. Instruction will be provided by representatives from Luceda, Topics will include:
- Circuit layout and simulation in Luceda IPKISS
- Component layout and simulation in Luceda IPKISS
- Luceda IPKISS links to ANSYS Lumerical and Tidy3D
- Design rule checks (DRC)
Material on layout flow, best-practices, floor-planning and packaging considerations will also be delivered.
Pre-requisites
Attendees are recommended to have a basic knowledge of silicon photonics design, such as completion of the Passive Silicon Photonic Workshop, or prior experience with PIC design.

Equipment Requirements
Attendees will need to bring their own laptops. The latest version of the Luceda IPKISS software can be downloaded from the CMC website. Please contact Ahmed Abumazwed if you have problems with access. Licensing information to access the software will be provided prior to the start of the workshop.
Travel and Accommodations
Ottawa is located approximately 400 km from Toronto and 200 km from Montreal. Ottawa International Airport (YOW) is located approximately 30 km from the workshop venue.
The workshop will take place following the Photonics North 2025 conference, which is taking place in downtown Ottawa, approximately 20 km from the workshop venue.
