December 10, 2025: FABrIC is pleased to announce the launch of the Quantum Computing Sandbox (QCS), a program that is unique in Canada. This national program provides access to leading quantum computing cloud platforms, and specialized technical support for Canadian innovators.
Through the QCS, participants will gain direct access to quantum cloud services from some of the world’s top providers. In addition, the CMC Microsystems team of expert quantum scientists will provide technical and engineering support for QCS participants.
Accelerating quantum adoption is a priority for CMC and FABrIC. The QCS will help accomplish this by accelerating industry-relevant quantum applications and strengthening Canadian quantum R&D, increasing participation from Canadian startups, SMEs, and researchers in the quantum space. The program will grow the impact of Canadian-developed quantum technologies in strategic sectors and is an important step to train & develop the emerging generation of Canadian quantum talent.
The QCS will deliver tangible economic benefits by supporting job creation, generating intellectual property, and identifying future commercialization opportunities for Canadian firms to pursue.
“Quantum technologies are moving from the research lab to strategic industrial applications,” said Luke Govia, Manager, Quantum Technologies at CMC. “By giving Canadian companies and researchers direct access to world-class quantum platforms, and the expert support needed to use them, we are accelerating quantum adoption in Canada and giving Canadian firms the tools to lead in the emerging quantum economy.”
The QCS is open to Canadian startups, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and academic researchers. Selected projects may run for 3, 6, or 12 months, with quantum cloud service usage capped at $100,000 per project.
Applications are now open, with full details available on the QCS website.
Webinars with Q&A sessions are taking place on December 17, 2025, and January 12, 2026, offering an overview of the program, and guidance for prospective applicants. Visit the QCS website for more information and to register.
